If you’re anything like me, you’ve got some famous movie quotes rattling around your brain that you whip out when the time is right.
Like:
- “You talkin’ to me?!”
- “There’s no place like home.”
- “Houston, we have a problem.”
- “You stay classy, San Diego.” (This one was on a heavy rotation during my years there.)
Or, my personal fave and one proclaimed by authors around the world: “Show me the money!”
When it comes to writing a book, many authors dream about that big six-figure advance—they want that money, honey. And for good reason. You all work HARD.
And while I want all my clients and readers to be paid their value and beyond, I find that when I speak to people about advance payments, there’s a lot they don’t yet understand.
