When you’re in the early (and frankly, not so early) days of building a business, there’s so much to consider. And for me, the gal who has never been quite so good at math, I wanted to stick my head in the sand when it came to looking at any numbers. Money is important, but it’s also emotional.
We’ve all got a money story.
The unfortunate reality is that way too many business owners fail to prioritize their financial literacy and are left feeling in the dark about their finances. The result: their business suffers or – in worst case scenarios – fails completely.
So in year two, when I could no longer avoid taking a look under the hood of the biz and knew I wanted to create something sustainable, I called Parker Stevenson at Evolved Finance—a bookkeeping and finance rebel (think less pocket protector, more punk band) for a conversation on what I needed. I’d heard about him EVERYWHERE and took it as a sign to reach out and set myself up on the best path possible.
And that was both the beginning of a healthy and profitable business—and a friendship.
A few years later, when Parker decided to write a book filled with his money wisdom for online entrepreneurs, coaches, and consultants, he knew who to call!
Parker’s incredibly helpful book Profit Pillars: A Proven System to Maximize the Bottom Line in Your Online Business launches November 19th, and we’re chatting about what YOU need to know to have a thriving business on this week’s episode of Bound + Determined.
In this episode, we chat about:
- Financial challenges and perspectives at different stages of business
- Why we re-evaluate success each year in a fast-changing online world
- What are profit pillars and how to use them
- Why business owners are playing 2 important games simultaneously
- The book proposal process
- Getting a book deal with a small platform
If you are a coach, course creator, group program facilitator, service provider, etc—this is an important listen!
Enjoy!
